JSF highlight not working with user defined color scheme

In IntelliJ 2017.1.x there's an issue with JSF highlighting such as the one described earlier here:
I had changed the color of my comments in order to make them more clear during a presentation. After that I noticed I didn't have any JSF related highlighting anymore.
I can get it back when I try to invalidate the caches and restart but it's very temporary. The highlighting usually lasts for a few hours after that, if not less.
The issue does not occur with dracula scheme or the default scheme.

Please file a bug at https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/IDEA with the sample file to reproduce and your IDE settings (File | Export Settings). Also attach the logs (https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/articles/207241085).
I'm not at liberty to do that. I don't own the license and I also don't own the code.
But seeing that this issue has already occurred before it'll likely be very reproducable.
