Status bar showing line breaks instead of lines selected

Hi,

From 2017 version when multiple lines are selected status bar shows selected line breaks instead of number of lines selectd. This is quite annoying and confusing because if you select three lines, but first and last are just half-selected, it will show "1 line break" instead of old "3 lines". Please see attached image:

Is there an option to change this behaviour? I couldn't find anything on the configuration screen.

I'm using MacOS X 10.11.6 and IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate 2017.2.
