keyboard shortcuts not working in Ubuntu on VirtualBox
Hi, I'm using Intellij Idea on Ubuntu inside VirtualBox and am having some problem with keyboard shortcuts. So far I have tried disabling various keyboard shortcuts via Ubuntu settings which has worked fine for removing some conflicting shortcuts. However I'm having a problem with shift-f6 & ctrl-f6 refactor shortcuts.
I have tried a few different things to remedy the problem. [1] Installing CCSM and looking at the short cuts in the Unity Plugin. I could not find any conflicting with ctrl-f6 and shift-f6 [2] Switching to Gnome and them selecting the Gnome keymap in Intellij.
Having googled around a bit it seems like an issue lots of people experience. Can anyone say what is working well for them? Many thanks.

Can you use these shortcuts in other applications? In other Java applications like JEdit or NetBeans?
So the problem with ctrl-f6 and shift-f6 not working was nothing to do with short cut mappings overriding Intellij ones. My laptop has a bios setting that allows you to toggle the priority keycode generated when pressing a function key. You either get the function key code or the multimedia key code. On my Dell XPS13 I can toggle that bios setting by pressing Fn+Esc. Shortcuts are now working fine.
