macOS Sierra version 10.12 (16A323) crashing when running IntelliJ

I used IntelliJ for a a few weeks with no problems, but now when I open the application my mac gives me a black screen for about 10 seconds and then shuts down completely. This happens randomly when the application is opened, so it could happen right when I open it, or a few minutes later. Any ideas what could be wrong? I have the updated version of IntelliJ.
