IDE Freezing when adding Maven Projects

This is happening each time I try to add a second maven project via the Maven sidebar by Import. The IDE message will be stuck at "Importing Maven projects" but the first project had no issues with the maven import.
The same thing happens if I try via Open Module Settings > Add > Import Module ...etc
I am using IntelliJ IDEA 2017.1.2 (Ultimate). I have the automated thread dumps & idea.log saved, how do I attach them here?
Any help is greatly appreciated,

Please try the latest version from http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/download/index.html.

I can't upgrade the version as it's restricted by company. My colleague has no problems with the same procedure but we are using the same settings file. Any ideas to debug this issue or shall I report it as a bug so I can submit the logs?
Yes, you should submit the logs and the thread dumps.
The exact issue still present for me. I will update with logs etc later. BTW, maybe anyone has already found workaround ?
Found a workaround in Jira Bug created by original author (didn't update this? too bad). https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-179537
"The workaround that worked for me was by following the steps:
disable subversion plugin, restart, import the other modules (which were already checked out locally), then re-enable svn, restart"
