Immediate crash (in Android Studio 3) when selecting Font preferences
Answered
I can't get any help from Google support on this crasher, so thought maybe someone here might have an idea.
Android Studio v. 2.x runs fine on my iMac. I've now tried several versions of AS v. 3, including the new release, and I can crash them instantly by selecting:
Preferences | Editor | Colors & Fonts | Font
This never fails. Looking at the crash log, it seems to have something to do with font rendering, but I don't know enough to understand it.

Do you have the same crash if you switch to Oracle JDK? See https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/articles/206544879.
Do you have many non-default fonts installed?
FontBook says I have 242 fonts installed; most of them are default, I think.
If you mean "installed into Android Studio", the answer would be: I didn't know that was possible.
I tried substituting the Oracle JDK back during the beta period and it didn't change anything.
Thanks for the information, please follow https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/JRE-515 for updates.
If you can, please add crash dumps from Oracle Java 1.8.0_152 build to YouTrack issue.
Just crashed the release version of AS3 by attempting to close a project. But the crashed thread was still the same one dealing with
I seem to bump into a similar problem, however, in my case Android Studio crashes on startup. MBP, El Capitan. Here's the dump:
