unable to save settings: failed to save settings when project located under synced folder using google drive backup and sync
Answered
Hi, I have intellij
and from some reason when my project is located under my google drive synced folder (using google drive backup and sync ) I get the error:
unable to save settings: failed to save settings. please restart intellij idea
if I'm exiting from the google drive backup and sync the save is working again.
any idea why?

It may be locking files and block IDEA from writing there. There is not much we can do about it.
Consider using version control for backup.
Thank you for your response @Serge Baranov
I don't know if this is related but when I'm creating a word file / text file on the same synced folder I can edit and save as much as I want while the file is open and while google drive backup and sync is working.
Wow thank you for this post. I, aswell use google drive for backup and sync, and yes I know, I should start learning to use version control for my programming but I am just so lazy! Anyways as soon as I saw this, I tried to uncheck "read only" on the project folder which lays in a google drive folder. And after that, would you guess it, the errors stoped! Just with the click of a button!
not worked for me @Nermin18
