IntelliJ IDEA & descending alphabets

Hello All,
I am new to IntelliJ IDEA which I recently downloaded and am quite liking it. One problem though is the characters that are descending (g,p,q,j) have their lower parts cut-off. I tried changing the fonts and themes but nothing seems to be helping. I really like the IDE so I am hoping I'll get some fix here. The details of my system:
Fedora 27 x64, Oracle Java 1.8 x64, IntelliJ IDEA community edition 2017.3.1, Gnome 3.26.x, Intelli J theme (GTK+ and tried others too). Screenshot g & y are broken in background/amey:

This problem can be fixed by using the bundled JetBrains Runtime (the default one) instead of the Oracle JDK, see https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/articles/206544879.
