1. Rebooting my Mac.
2. Invalidating Caches and restarting the IDE.
3. Reinstalling IntelliJ.
4. Deleting the 'Caches' and 'Application Support/JetBrains' directories, followed by a fresh IDE installation.
5. Verifying that I'm using the default Java Runtime version.
6. Ensuring I'm using the ARM version of the IDE.
7. Disabling Antialiasing.
8. Closing resource-intensive apps like Google Chrome.
9. Installing the Atom Material Icons plugin.
10. Downloading prebuilt shared indexes.
11. Modifying the .vmoptions file to include: -Dsun.java2d.opengl=true -Dsun.java2d.opengl.fbobject=false
12. Disabling smooth scrolling.
13. Operating on the Mac without an external display and connected to a power source.

Despite all these efforts, my IntelliJ IDEA 2022.1 (Ultimate Edition) continues to exhibit performance issues on macOS Monterey Version 12.1. My Mac Air M1 boasts 8 GB of RAM, 8 cores, and runs on the Apple M1 chip.
