RubyMine 3.1 slow in Linux Ubuntu 10.10
Hi guys!
I really love the idea and functionality of Rubymine and I bought the personal license. But it's very slow in linux (menus and autocompletition). I understand it runs many things in background, but it's still too slow. Do you have any idea?
My system:
Linux Ubuntu 10.10
Rubymine 3.1
SSD drive, AMD X6, Nvidia graphic card.
What might be the reason for that?
Thanks for your suggestions!

Please provide CPU snapshot, refer to http://devnet.jetbrains.net/docs/DOC-1144.
Hi. I dont see any buttons in Rubymine to perform CPU benchmark. I have 64 bit version of Linux and have downloaded the yjp library from link provided and then copied over the libyjpagent.so to bin folder from /yjp-9.5.4/bin/linux-x86-64/libyjpagent.so in archive.
What am I doing wrong?
OK, I've downloaded wrong version.
OK here is my cpu data at FTP: RM-103.105_miha_24.02.2011_15.46.58.zip
Basically I went over the menues with mouse and typed some code. I dont thing the CPU is a key player here.
Hello Miha,
Thanks a lot for the snapshot, indeed your snapshot showed that it is a Java rendering problem in your case. Do you have any special effects in Compiz enabled?
I think it doesn't matter however what actions were you doing while capturing this snapshot?
We are already aware of some performance problem with KWin and blur effects on.

Hi!
Thank you for your answers!
I have Visual effects to maximum in Ubuntu (it does not make any difference in performance with or without effects). I am not sure what Compiz is? Btw I turned of anti-aliasing on fonts in Rubymine and it's a bit better.
Let us know of your progress :)
Another info that might be useful regarding preformance.
I've installed through Synaptic package manager two things: default-jdk and sun-java6-bin
I think it works a bit better.
I should have asked what Java SDK you were using as a very first question. Indeed only Oracle JDK is officially supported, because there are lots of known issues with OpenJDK.

Oleg
So by installing those things above I did the right think? Or should I install some other packages?
Exactly:) No other packages are required.
