IntelliJ 2016 Code Analysis Never completes for specific project

How to I fix IntelliJ when it is endless stuck in "Performing Code Analysis"? This affects only one of my projects.
I've tried deleting the plugins and caches folder and re-installing the application.
I'm using 2016.2

Can someone please provide an update? I'm not the only one with this issue, as it also appears to be affecting other projects like PhpStorm.

This issue is fixed in 2016.3: https://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/IDEADEV/IDEA+2016.3+EAP.
