Project structure lost upon exit, only when stored in onedrive

When creating a new project anywhere but in onedrive or google drive, it correctly remembers the project files and folders.

Otherwise however, when i reopen the project even seconds after creating it, the only file shown is the .iml file.

I would appreciate insight into this issue, and whether there is a solution, or an alternative that is as convenient.

The reason as to why i am using onedrive is so that i can begin a project on my laptop during meetings and be able to continue them on my desktop, and vice versa. Since i work on both quite frequently, using github is an adequate but rather cumbersome solution, as there is a more lengthy process involved in committing and pushing your progress to the cloud.
