Remote Server: couldn't connect to console process

Dear Jetbrains,
I am working on an azure data science virtual machine and want to use the classic pycharm interactive console. I can access data and execute code remotely on the server from within my local pycharm version BUT unfortunately am unable to connect to the console.
It feels like I googled that issue for the whole day and it would be awesome, if you could handle it.
PyCharm is awesome, which is why I use the pro version - please keep it awesome by fixing that issue asap.
