Terminal: stop right click selection

I use the the terminal in Intellij a fair amount. One thing that really bothers me that does not exist in other terminals I've used so far is the highlighting/selection when right clicking. Instead of pasting or opening up the right click menu, if the mouse moves one pixel while pressed it starts selecting and does not past or open the menu. Another side effect of this is that the selected test (or lack thereof) gets copied to clipboard. Is there any way to modify this behavior?
