Darcula theme showing white

I've tried changing my theme to Darcula and its not showing correctly. Please see screenshot. I am working on Ubuntu 16.04/KDE Plasma and Intellij 2018.1.3
I've tried deleting the ~/.Idea2018.1 directory and going through the Intellij set-up process again. This time I get the following showing, a little more dark but still not correct.
Also I've noticed that the font doesn't look right,

What JDK version is used to run IntelliJ IDEA (see About)?
Any related errors in idea.log (https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/articles/207241085)?

Thanks for picking this up. JDK is as follows,
IntelliJ IDEA 2018.1.3 (Community Edition)
Build #IC-181.4892.42, built on May 8, 2018
JRE: 10.0.1+10 amd64
JVM: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM by Oracle Corporation
Linux 4.13.0-41-generic
There are loads of errors in the idea.log file - is there anything in particular I should look out for ?

Running on Java 10 is not really supported well yet.
