Startup missing project open dialog

Mac OS High Sierra, Intellij IDEA 2018.2.1
Start intelliJ.
Top mac menu bar shows "IntelliJ IDEA" only.
How do I open a project from this short menu?
A clean install did not solve the problem.

Does it happen on the Welcome Screen only? Did you try to open the project from the Welcome Screen first?
Thanks, that is the word I was looking for, Welcome Screen!
There was no Welcome Screen. idea.log suggested the application was running, at least, I didn't see any errors there.
I rebooted the mac, now I get the Welcome Screen.
If I were on Windows, I probably would have considered the reboot first :)
