IntelliJ Idea Hangs When Starting

I am in the middle of a project and Intelli J Idea hung in mid-edit. I had to use Windows 10 Task Manager to End the Task. Since then when I try and re-start the editor it will start to the tool tips screen. I cancel that and it normally should go to the screen that would allow me to select from recent projects but instead it shows a black screen and will not continue. I tried closing all other programs and even re-starting my computer all to no avail. Is there some control file or entry that is keeping it from completely starting?

Thanks. I read the comments from the article and they were pretty negative. I tried an alternative solution that I thought of and it worked! I renamed the project folder that it was trying to open and it started. Once started I was able to open the project file as renamed and proceed with my project. Thanks for trying...
