Color scheme changes color to black on okay

When I try to change color scheme my pythons function declarations change to black. You can see the change happen shortly after I hit okay.

If I hit apply and keep the settings window open the function declaration stays the color of the previous font I was on.
I've tried resetting pycharm to default settings. I've disabled all plugins. I've tried to redownload fonts and installed from import and extensions.
Any idea by chance? Oh I've tried to swap my windows 10 light and dark mode too just in case.

Does it happen with the standard color schemes?
The ones you showed on the screencast are from some 3rd party plugin(s).
The standard color schemes all work. The Darcula one I switch between is a default scheme.
I've resorted to just doing some light tweaks on a default one.
This feels like something that might resolve itself eventually.
Appreciate the reply though.
