Pycharm - collapsed tabs for Project, etc. have disappeared

My left-side tabs have disappeared.
I was previously able to collapse the Project window into a tab on the left side of the IDE.
This is gone; how do I get it back?
See screenshot from Visual Studio for example. Pycharm has a comparable feature but I can't find it.

View -> Appearance -> Tool Window Bars
