Directory Tree View VS Directory Dot View

Answered

When I create a subdirectory that only has a subdirectory in it. The project view displays the directory path as a single line where the two directories are separated as a dot.

IE: dir.subdir

How do I make it display as a normal tree view?

IE:  dir
         subdir

When there is only one item, the subdir, in the directory.

Disable the Compact Middle Packages option:

Doing a search in Settings for Compact Middle Packages returns no results. You'd think the developers at JetBrains would be smart enough to design the settings so that you don't have to spend an hour trying to find the one you're looking for.

Hello Brian Sheely

By design, you cannot find the Middle Package in settings because it is a view-specific option, not a global IDE setting. However, you can find the path to it through settings by the shortcuts if you search for the Middle Package there:

Also, if you use Search Everywhere, the option will be shown for easy access to enable/disable.

If you still can't see the Middle Package, it may be due to another issue. Please let me know if you need further assistance with that.
