Figured it out. afterServerStop doesn't get called if you run the webapp, but does get called if the webapp is debugged. The correct solution I think is for it to be called regardless of whether it...

make sure your JVM settings in IDEA has /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.4.1/Classes/classes.jar included in its classpath

haha, I'm not THAT scary...I hope!What did you have to go get it to work? Do you have a web module specified using the old way or the new j2ee module stuff? Is the taglib jar in your classpath?

It is? I debug/run my webapps without either option checked (war or exploded dir). There's nothing that forces you to have one or the other checked AFAIK...
