Well hopefully you will see the reason you haven't received advice from anyone is because what model you need depends less on PhpStorm and more on everything else. What do you actually use your mac...

I've found the option. When you are about to commit changes, uncheck "Perform code analysis" located on the right-side of the window.

Just one more thing. How do I change the background colour of 'unknown' class references? I don't know what section of Colours & Fonts this is in.

General > Text > Default text is set to a colour completely different to what is currently in use. I don't know what is overwriting it but I would like to change it.
