RubyMine high CPU usage - MacBook Pro 2017 + macOS 10.13

Hello,

I'm using RubyMine on my MacBook Pro 2017, High Sierra (macOS 10.13), for a very little project (less than 10 files).

The problem is that, whenever I start typing code, copy-pasting some code etc.., the CPU is used at more than 150% by RubyMine! Most of the time it's more than 200%. And my MacBook's fan starts to turn at full speed.

I also tried the EAP version but I experience the same thing...

Any idea?

Thanks

Hello,

thanks for feedback, could you please share more detailed info using this instruction. We need CPU Snapshot and will be useful to have all logs, see how to find.

Hi Jetbrains Team

I have the same problem in Rubymine 2017.3.2 (also happens in 2017.3.3 and in Webstorm) while editing JS files. Machine is a Macbook Pro 13" 2015 with macOS 10.13.3

I uploaded logs and CPU Snapshot here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ajd1itu0feuubyp/AACP83gfggNIkbCwt4yvpGTla?dl=0

I hope this helps.

Thank you

Edit: As per https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360000045824-Webstorm-constantly-pegging-CPU I disabled the 'Unused global symbol' inspection for JS files and this seems to fix the high CPU load. I'll keep an eye on it and report if I find anything else...

@Ug Gerber,

it's indeed related to the inspection you've mentioned, please follow the corresponding issue: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/WEB-16757
