Is it possible to install on windows as standard user

Cancel admin permission request and it will install as a normal user.

If cancelling the admin permission request, will there be a difference in the installation compared to running it as admin ?

Ie will I miss anything if installing as a standard user ?

Would it be possible (or is it available ?) to supply a Windows zip-based distribution instead of the exe-file ?

That would really simplify setting up complete environments on Windows boxes.

There will be no difference except the install location. .zip version is available, see https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/articles/206544699.

Does the .zip version also prompt for admin permissions? Or where can i choose to install it for a normal user, so he can update Intellij without admin permissions?

The zip archive does not require admin permissions to install as well as the .exe distributive.

If you cancel the permissions request, installer will default into the user accessible directory under application data.

Serge Baranov This is simply not true. If I cancel the admin request on windows 11, it does not install as a normal user.
The company I work for has disabled local admin rights for developers, so I am kind of stuck with this.
